Kacey Musgraves debut album was released on Friday. Her single "Merry Go Round" was released a couple of months ago, and has been played on country stations down here, although even if you don't like country, you may like her, since she is more folk-style than country style.
So, we have the whole album now, and one of the other really catchy songs on the CD is called "Follow Your Arrow." I suspect that this song, despite its catchiness, will not make it on to the local country stations for the following line:
"Make lots of noise,
Kiss lots of boys,
Or kiss lots of girls, if that's something you're into."
The song is clearly directed at women/girls, and I don't know if country music stations are ready to play a song actively supporting lesbians. I, however, am excited to see a country artist that elected to include this song on her album. There's always a chance that she'll make it big in the pop-music world and get played on the pop stations, like Taylor Swift does now.
